Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: Patient Access
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- email us at prescriptions.binfield@nhs.net
Please be aware that a patient turning 16, the parent or guardian will lose proxy access. The patient will need to create their own account. This is to comply with a patient’s right to restrict access to their notes when they turn 16. Please also be aware that if you order on behalf of another person that all patients will need to have their own individual account.
To create a NHS app you need to go onto the NHS website and follow the instructions, you may not need to contact the surgery regarding this unless there is a problem.
Dispensary
If you live more than one mile as the crow flies from a pharmacist, your drugs may be dispensed at the surgery.
If this applies to you, please enquire at reception.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription at your nominated pharmacy 4 working days after you have requested it.
Please remember to order your repeat prescriptions before you run out, so that you do not take up emergency appointments.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- by emailing prescriptions.binfield@nhs.net
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
Go to Medicines A to Z (nhs.uk)
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription please email prescriptions.binfield@nhs.net.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may book you a review with one of our clinical pharmacists/pharmacy technicians.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
