Meningitis B Vaccine

Anyone born before May 2015 is not eligible for Meningitis B vaccination on the NHS. Anyone born after May 2015 should have had the vaccination as part of their childhood immunisations.

The Meningitis B (MenB) vaccination is currently offered on the NHS as part of the routine childhood immunisation programme and is provided to children up to the age of 2. This programme was introduced in 2015 for infants, and eligibility is therefore limited to those within the specified age group.

We understand your concerns, particularly in light of the recent outbreak in Kent. However, we are unable to offer the Meningitis B vaccine on a private basis at this time.

If you believe you or someone in your household may have been in close contact with a confirmed case of Meningitis B, or if you are experiencing symptoms, we strongly advise seeking medical advice promptly. You can contact NHS 111 for urgent guidance, or the surgery for further assessment. In an emergency, please call 999 or attend your nearest Accident & Emergency department.
